San Candido (in German known as Innichen) is a lovely alpine village in South Tyrol’s Pusteria Valley. The village is home to the 13th century Innichen Abbey, the most important Romanesque building in Tyrol.

These beautiful mountains were named a Unesco World Natural Heritage site in 2009. The range is in fact the world’s highest coral reef formed 250 million years ago. The Dolomites now form a striking ring of pale beige and pink rock towers, which arch out of the snow.The region is filled with peaks, pinnacles and towers, the most famous of which are the Three Peaks of Lavaredo. The Sesto Dolomites offer a labyrinth of mountain trails, which are a treat to behold, either by bike or on foot, with acres of pine forests, picturesque lakes and dramatic alpine vistas at every turn.

The first historical reference about the structure dates back to 1753, when the house belonged to a tailor. In 1829 it become the store of a glovemaker: at the time the working and tanning of leather being the main form of income.In 1859 it was transformed into what became one of the most important Viennese Caffe’s of the time.
Today this ancient building is their home. A house of women, warm, welcoming and full of character (just like the lady owner Anna and her mother Maria )where the decor becomes an emotional experience and every detail tells a story.
The meaning of the word zenana in fact is “of the women” or “pertaining to women” and refers to the part of a house which is reserved for the women of the household. Each object, piece of furniture and detail has been chosen with passion and care to be placed in it’s perfect spot.
